Pattaya Harbor Opens Songkran Water Safety and Convenience Center for Public and Tourists

On April 11, 2023, Pattaya Harbor was integrated with all sectors to ensure water safety and convenience for the public and tourists. The Songkran water safety and convenience center was officially opened today at South Pattaya Pier, Bali Hai Cape, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Puripat Thirakunphisut, Deputy Director General of Marine Department Safety, along with several dignitaries such as Mr. Manoch Nongyai, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, Mr. Rewat Phorieng, Director of the Regional Harbor Office 6, and Pol. Supervising 2 Tourist Police Division 1.

During the Songkran Festival, which takes place between 11-17 April 2022, a large number of people and tourists are expected to travel to various water and seaside attractions. To ensure their safety, the Marine Department has implemented several measures to protect the public and tourists during the festival. The water safety center and facilities, along with public relations for waterways, have been established at the pier. The Marine Department will strictly follow the action plan and safety measures to supervise and facilitate the safety of water transport.

Furthermore, personnel and collaborative processes of each department have been prepared to supervise and ensure the safety of water transport. The boat and various equipment inside the boat will be checked to ensure compliance with the law and create a good standard for ship operators, seafarers, ships, and wharfs. Local water transport stations will also be organized for maximum convenience and safety for the lives and properties of tourists during the Songkran Festival.

Various agencies have collaborated in the merger of officers in the operation, consisting of the Marine Police, Marine and Coastal Rescue Department, Pattaya City, Sawang Boriboon Rescue Unit, and the 3rd Asavaree Network. These joint forces aim to provide safety to the public and tourists who use the service of passenger boats for water travel, ensuring maximum safety for life and property. They will receive reports of water incidents and help victims of water disasters in a timely and efficient manner. With these measures in place, tourists can rest assured and enjoy their time at Pattaya Harbor during the Songkran Festival.
