Phra Chan Pipeline Project Delayed Pending Highway Approval

On June 12, 2025, Hua Hin officials met with regional infrastructure representatives to discuss the next steps in a major water pipeline installation project at Phra Chan Curve. The meeting addressed construction timelines, safety measures, and delays caused by pending land-use approvals.

HUA HIN — A high-level meeting was held on June 12, 2025, to evaluate the progress and implementation strategies for a key water pipeline project connecting Phetchaburi and Hua Hin. The meeting focused on the technical and logistical requirements for laying a 1,000-millimeter diameter steel pipe at the Phra Chan Curve area, part of an ongoing initiative by the Royal Irrigation Department to extend and improve the region’s water infrastructure.

The pipe, measuring 18 meters in length, is to be installed by excavating the road surface at the Phra Chan Curve intersection—specifically near the canal-side road adjacent to the “Raft House.” This section connects directly to the interior pipeline located within the fenced perimeter of the 14th Irrigation Office. Since this section of the route lies within the jurisdiction of the Department of Highways (Prachuap Khiri Khan District), formal authorization is required before work can proceed.

As a result, the planned road closure at the intersection—originally scheduled for June 15–16, 2025—has been postponed until permission is granted by the district’s highway authority. Once approved, the installation will resume according to the revised timeline.

Following the discussion on the pipeline, participants also reviewed the concurrent construction of the Phra Chan roundabout and related pavement upgrades, which involve resurfacing with bituminous concrete. Officials emphasized the importance of minimizing disruption to traffic and maintaining safety, particularly during peak hours and nighttime periods.

To address public concerns over construction-related dust and safety hazards, contractors have been instructed to regularly clean the road surface and install illuminated signage to clearly mark work zones.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Jiravat Phramanee, Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor of Hua Hin Municipality. He was joined by Mr. Set Chanta-ad, Deputy Director of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Highways District (Hua Hin), along with engineers, strategic planners, budget officers, and representatives from the 14th Irrigation Office and associated contractors.
